Swapping to aftermarket EFI
 
I am going to transfer over to to either the EZ fast system or the holley. I am going to run a return so no issue there. Will want to add the NOS as well.

I have been looking for real world feed back on either and have found a little but nothing that makes me see that one is better than the other. With my little rowdy SBC I was told the fast 2.0 would be a simple deal.

Steve,, life is great in Az,, it's only 80's now and lows in the 50's How can it not be wonderful!!! Hell that just means I'm officially a dirty old man and can quit hiding behind pretense and get down to business!!!

I have one of the older Holley Commander 950 systems on my litle 327 El Camino. I'm pretty happy with it as a cruiser and mild street car. Just know the injectors and tuneup are EVERYTHING. The new Holley EFI is WAY advanced from this old 950 stuff. And the Dominator ECU is pretty cool (but more geared towards the LS motors) The Avenger and Terminator line is pretty user friendly, but may be limiting for your motor,, just check them out.

FAST as far as I have been involved with, is top drawer,, very racer oriented, but VERY geared towards the "already know what your doing" crowd. I know a couple guys that tried to run small blocks in NMCA/ PSCA EFI class with FAST and just couldn't get as much power as a carb (on the dyno anyways) And these were some of the smartest small-block guys I've ever known. Not saying anything bad about FAST as they are the standard in EFI everyone else is measured against,, as much as MSD is to Ignition, or Holley to carbs,, etc. But for jumping into EFI I would want someone close and handy to lend a hand if I were doing FAST. However,,, I think FAST is the only solution of your going to spray much.
Pretty sure Rick, Shaun and a couple other guys here have ran FAST systems,, I'm sure they will chime in with more.

Marv you know I tune EFI for a living so going over to that is not going be a huge off set learning curve for me. However it seems that getting a straight answer out of the company is like asking for free cash.. Salesman that know just enough to get the most basic questions.. YES it works great on a SBC we did this. When you ask about real world set up stuff its a blank look.

Thanks doing ok the huge change in air density here is crazy baro will be 29.4 then its 30.19 with this storm.. Trucks runs killer then not so much

Got the valve train sorted out.. New guides, lighter valves and stiffer spring. 7,600rpm hyd roller with no issue.

Unfortunately I lifted the heads last time out. But I bet the verter would be close to correct on the bottle.

With the new baby though, I parked it in the garage, drained the fuel cell and haven't touched it.

Well It looks like I will be using the Holley system. The Auto tune may not work for my engine in the low RPM range say under 2250 as the amount of overlap in the cam however as a starting point however the pro system is a free down load and supports NOS and manual tuning so I am in. Even as far as total auto tune for the NOS .. That is the goal. Meaning no NOS fuel solenoids at all!!!! This has been done on several of the race cars. Inj size for my set up will go bigger and I will ramp up fuel PSI in the process!!

Will have a very nice QF 750 going up for sale soon :)

Im using the holley hp. haven't got it running yet tho.. still need to finish the turbo hotside and cold side...

I would be buying the terminator system and then using the HP software to deal with the above normal items like the large over lap and reversion set up for low rpm tuning wise and the NOS system increase fuel PSI on the double stage kit. But for starters I will leave the NOS for last. Get the system to be tuned and then work on the NOS. I do not race this on a regular basis to fast for no cage. Everything local is 1/8 mile and that does not do much for me. So the NOS is a just for fun deal.

Steve,, one of your best resources is going to be the EFI forum over at Chevytalk. Doug Folley (Holley's EFI mastermind) frequents there,, and EFI guru Danny Cabral,, as well as a BUNCH of EFI techies. Having Doug and the braintrust a keyboard away was indespensible when I first started screwing with the 950Commander.
