Stock GM 20s

I haven't been able to locate a picture of a 67-72 c10 with a set of stock gm 20 inch wheels on it. So I decided I would reach out to my fellow forum members to see if you guys have seen, or maybe have a picture from a get together/car show, or if any of you own a truck with newer style stock 20's

The reason I ask is because these rims will become available to me in a short while and I'm wondering how they will look.....I'm also thinking about having them powder coated black like the wheel in the pic

I think it is a cool idea and I've seen escalade wheels on an older C10, however there are offset issues and possibly other things that I am not aware of. You will most likely have to run a 2" adaptor or something along those lines to even get close to running newer style wheels. So that may be something to think about. I am sure others know more about this than I do, so I am interested in hearing what they say! Good luck if you decide to go that route, be sure to post photos.

The 99 up wheels have a small center hole that will not fit our trucks. The lug spacing is the same. You can modify your hubs for these wheels, but few are willing to do it.

Re: Stock GM 20s

I built a GMC with factory 20's it was a 04 I think. I was a little different truck cause it was a 2wheel drive but had the same frame as the 4x4. It had the torsion bar front suspension. I had not noticed any other truck with the front like that at that time I mean a 1/2 ton 2 wd. The 20's on it were different than the SS type wheels you are showing. To get a pic of them I don't have one saved, go to car-part .com and look up a 20 inch wheel for a 04 Sierra and you can get a pic that way. They were nice looking wheels. Jim

Re: Stock GM 20s

I didn't know that about the center holes......are you talking about modifying the knuckle part of the rotor that comes out from my disc brake conversion in the front. Or do you only have to modify it if it has drum brakes.

And here is some info on the rims I found online....

WHEEL SIZE: 20x8.5
WHEEL OFFSET: 31

CENTER CAPS: Center cap included, factory center cap will interchange.

Also the best I remeber the GMC's and Chevrolets had their own center one with a bowtie and the other GMC stamping. The wheel center itself would be opened up to fit the old hubs is the way I am understanding most have done to make the newer wheels fit the older trucks. Jim

Re: Stock GM 20s

The stock hubs stick out with the dust cap on them. The flat center cap want work unless U modify the wheel are the hub. The wheel center hole is smaller on the new wheels as well it would have to be opened up to get a good mount are as stated us some spacers.

I like the polished 20" Tahoe wheels also.

Ok...I guess it is possible then with a spacer and a little work....it sure beats paying out the @$$ for custom billet wheels right now. Lol!

with the data that you have on the rims take the time to do some measuring to help find out what you problems you may face. get the data on tires planned to run also, include some extra width for inflated tires. can do partial mock up with pieces of plywood.

Wouldn't the adaptors help with the center bore issue if it provides an extra 2" of clearance?

That's what I'm thinking.....it should clear the round castle nut cap, right??

I would think so, maybe if anything order a pair of 2" adaptors and if you have any friends with newer wheels they can let you borrow at least 2 for back/front to test fit and see if there is any issue.

THANKS! That is extremely helpful. I think I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger when my buddy is ready to sell them to me, after he gets his new wheels. I think they look sweet on that truck. But still wish I could see them on a completed truck....maybe I should see if somebody can photo shop the black rims on a lowered blue truck...

Does anybody know somebody on the forum I should contact to get it done? I am horrible at Photoshop. Lol!!

Post a picture of your truck and the wheels you want in the photoshop forum here: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=33

Those guys have some real talent... I'm horrible too. better off just holding up the two photos next to each other and trying to imagine what they'd look like together. lol

OK, sweet.....I will go over there to see if they can get it done...since my truck isn't painted yet, I did a Google search and found a truck that they can hopefully do it on.

So here is an update....

Nobody replied to my request over on the photo shop side of the forum, so I went over to another forum and was able to get it done.

I like the way it looks.
