decode frame vin
I was crawling under my 1964 k10 and I found number stamped in to the frame under both the passenger and driver door. I was hoping someone on here could help me decode what they are, I've always speculated my body was swapped on to a different frame but it would be nice to know for sure. so here are the numbers under the driver door is 3820303 12 6 24 78 and under the passenger door is 3820304 12 8 21 78 and up under the hood towards the front of the engine is 114 anyone know what any of this means?

Group 7.006 MEMBER- REINFORCMENT, Frame Side
63 Ser. 10-20 (4 WD) w 127"w.b......3820303.....left $74.15 3820304 is the right side part number. GM is always Odd Number Left and Even Number Right The reference book goes only to 63, so 64 might have used the same side rails. I'm not at home to check my books. Reference was courtesy of http://www.gmpartswiki.com/query This site is a great help when you have GM part numbers. The rest I don't know, maybe date stamp codes. Another member pope found these on his frame. Start at post #77 http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=5496617 http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/9...1160255598.jpg |

The VIN should be on top of the frame on the drivers side in front of the crossmember. It should match your cab VIN if it's original.

Re: decode frame vin
check the "where is my vin #" thread in the faq section, I have some shots of the vins, 1 like slow builds, and 1 for under the cab, like areo truck posted what you are looking at are part #'s for the frame rails.
