Anyone?
What has anyone else done ? Does anyone have a picture of this piece, maybe I could make one. Gary |
Re: WTB Air shut-off damper bushing
I was looking for one too but ended up making my own. I cut the head off a bolt the same size, welded a washer on the end and then drilled a hole down the center. I reused the plastic nut.

Re: WTB Air shut-off damper bushing
Thanks Warbucket,
But I still am not quit sure what I need. I have a 1/2" hole in the firewall, so I was going to make a bushing 1/2" OD x 1/8" ID with a flange on one end. Slip this into the hole from the cowl side then put the damper into that. Would this work, or am I missing something. By the assembly manual there's 2 pieces, a bearing & a cap. I don't understand what the cap is for ? Do you think a flanged bushing would work ? Thanks again ! Gary |
Re: WTB Air shut-off damper bushing
It looks like the 1/2" hole in the cowl is oversized so you could center the air shut off in the cowl so it will move freely. I snapped mine because they are made of plastic. I used sealer and then tightened it up.

Re: WTB Air shut-off damper bushing
I got it now ! You made what I would call a bulk-head fitting. The washer you welded on goes on the cowl / damper side and the nut goes on from inside the cab, and the hole you drilled receives the plastic piece,
I don't have the plastic piece, but here at work we have some small plastic bulk-head fittings that I will modify to make it like your bolt & washer ( But plastic ) with the correct size hole drilled in it to receive the spring loaded pin. The light bulb just came on !!!! "LOL" I try and post up a picture when I have on made up. Thanks, Warbucket Gary |
Re: WTB Air shut-off damper bushing
You got it, It supports the spring loaded pin and gives some movement in the cowl to center the inlet plenum valve.
