Any ideas... Paint removal???
I am changing my speedo cluster in my 59. The plastic that holds the numbers is clear, with the numbers painted white. I am making it a white face cluster to match my tach. I am wondering what is the best way to remove the paint from the numbers. I have used a little pin to scratch the paint off, then I have been using a glass cleaner to clean it out(with a Q-tip). Is there an easier and more effective way to get the old paint off??? I know using a thinner or a paint stripper product might harm the plastic so I am not using it. I also have one more question. I know this is a 67-72 message boad but the 55-59 board is silent and not much use asking there, but is there a way to take off the speedo needle, without breaking it? I want to paint it an orange color to match the tach.
Thanks for any help. Lucky |
When I paint needles I use a post card and cut a slit half way up the middle then slide it behind the needle until it stops. No mess and no removal necessary!.

That is a good idea, but I also want to paint behind the needle... white to be exact. I guess that I just have to tape up the need and odometer. Good idea 70c10, I think I will use it.
I am also doing another "special" feature to my cluster. I will post pics as soon as I finish. HEHEHE Lucky |
