Web cams anyone?

I am trying to learn how to setup a webcam.. I want to install a couple of cameras outside my house and be able to access them via a smart phone or computer.

I found something like this on ebay, but is this what im looking for?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/350812520811...84.m1438.l2649

I can see from the description I can get the video to a tv or vcr, but how do I get that same video to the web for me or others to see it?

Any help would be great!!

Thanks!

We have a multiple cam baby monitor that I can access from iPhone or computer. Works great. I would go that route.

I'm on my learning curve too. You'll need an IP camera set up.

You will need either IP cameras or analog cameras going to a DVR with network capabilities (pretty all of them do now). If going the ip route you will just need the cameras, a good router and maybe a PoE switch if they aren't wireless. You can buy inexpensive analog kits that I believe have everything you need.

I have a wireless modem/router for my DSL connection so I should be able to hook an IP camera to that with no problem. Analog cameras are great too, but I don't want to run the wiring to them.. I can supply power to them easier than a video/data cable.

I settled in on the Apexis j901 to subsidize my current system. It's motion activated, sends alerts, can be controlled by multiple portable devices. I can't review it yet because I'm waiting for my router to come. http://www.apexis.com.cn/en/productsdetails_183.html

Any decision made? I finally got my router now all I need is my daughters friend to come figure out how to make everything work together for me.
