73-76 transmission crossmember...which side is the front?

on the original trans crossmember, the holes for the mount are offset just a little... so there is a front and back side of the crossmember...bolting it in the frame backwards will move the holes for the transmission mount.

Without having to wait until trying to put the engine/trans in...Does anyone happen to know which way is correct? The part number is stamped on the bottom edge of one side.... Is that the front side or the back side?

Thanks.

Hmmm...... The mount holes in my 74 double hump member are dead center, With the many engine/trans combos I've installed, I find it easier to get the engine sit'n on the mounts then jack the trans up to install the member......

I'm gonna look at it again closer...I'm pretty sure the one I've got is offset by at least 1/4"... I'm putting a 5 speed in it, which requires relocating the trans mount...I know how much the mount needs to move, so I was hoping to modify the crossmember based on the known measurements, while the motor is being finished up....

That way when I'm ready to put the engine in, the trans mount will be ready to go.

I suppose I could slot the holes front to back, but would be nice to not have to.
