Sorry, I just couldn't resist. Very cool pic! I was there summer of 2012, but didn't see it. |
Re: yosemite park uses a gmc.
I've been there many times over the years and don't recall ever seeing that rig. But it is cool though!

Re: yosemite park uses a gmc.
That ride is likely not a government vehicle. It is owned and operated by a partner or a vendor at the park. In Gettysburg there is a guy in town that give tours of the park with a couple of 40's Chevrolet COE's.
Still a nice truck. |
Re: yosemite park uses a gmc.
Yep,they use vendors. But,it's all funded by taxes. Great choice of colors. Looks about like the Dept of Interior green on top and good ole Woodland Green on the bottom that,at least Maryland State Parks uses in their trucks (and me on my '92 work truck). Looks like chrome 19.5 Budds on there. Maybe the truck was formally used elsewhere and is actually a vintage build (that's been restored)
My guess is this rig is a new addition. Look at the picture. That big rock in the background looks new,too  |
Re: yosemite park uses a gmc.
While at our place in Gatlinburg a couple years ago, I went out and looked at a '67 or 68 Chevy K10 panel Burb that used to belong to the National Park Service. It was kind of brown UPS truck colors, and you could still make out the lettering of "Great Smoky Mountains" something or other. It was only a roller with no drivetrain and it was super rough from sitting in the woods. Still now, I keep thinking I should have bought it for the $2k asking price. Whoops..

Re: yosemite park uses a gmc.
Best I can tell the car behind it is an 80's vintage Ford LTD. So the image may be 25-30 years old.
Though it would be cool if they were still using it today! |
Re: yosemite park uses a gmc.
yeah i didnt know the date at all on the photo. i just seen the awesome gmc and had to post it :gmc2:
wish it was still in use. how cool would that be |
Re: yosemite park uses a gmc.
I believe it's more recent. Guys are saying they never saw it in the last 25-30 years and there's an '80s car behind it. I went there a good bit (several times a year) in the mid-late '70s,back again around '81,'84,then not till '94,then '99 and never saw it. And believe me,I would have noticed!
