Rear Brake Lock up
69 C10. I have redone the brakes twice and the rears still lock up when I apply the brakes. They shouldnt lock with the amount of pressure I am applying. Comments anyone?

Re: Rear Brake Lock up
Did you add front disc brakes?

Re: Rear Brake Lock up
You need to provide a little bit more information about your truck.
Is this still a drum front/drum rear setup or has it been updated to front discs, different master cylinder, proportion valve? You see where I'm going with this? |
Re: Rear Brake Lock up
Valid question, If you added discs to the front, and have drums on the back, You need to add a prop valve to the m/c. Otherwise the pressures are out of balance.
If not, it may be that your front brakes aren't working properly. It could be that the wheel cylinders are bad, air in the lines, M/C isn't working properly, shoes are worn out or cooked, etc... Let us know what your working with and we can help you more. Happy New year!:metal: |
Re: Rear Brake Lock up
Truck has stock drums on front and rear.

Re: Rear Brake Lock up
New shoes turned drums on front and rear. New wheel cylinders. MC isnt that old

Re: Rear Brake Lock up
It may be that the adjusters on the front aren't working properly, or weren't set when reassembled. Check the front adjusters and see if they're working properly. Then I would lift the truck and tighten the front adjusters enough that they will adjust when you reverse.
