Suburban ride height
I'm just about to pull the trigger on some suspension parts and have a question. Can someone please tell me the stock ride height for my 72 suburban? I think a PO might have heated up the springs to lower it. I have a set of 20" boss 338 on it and the distance from the top of the tire to the fender is 5 1/2" front and rear.
I am looking to keep it level but about 3" lower. Thanks |
Re: Suburban ride height
It's really hard to judge a lowering job that was done by a P.O. If I was you, I would look at the photos on here. There is a ton to look at. Find what tickles your fancy and go from there. There is a 2wd burb thread around here somewhere that could point you in the right direction.

Re: Suburban ride height
Oh I've seen it. About 3 times a day!!! I'm looking for some stock measurements so I know where I'm at and can better judge where I want to be and what parts will get me there

Re: Suburban ride height
Has anyone used truck rear coil springs to lower a suburban? If I do can I expect more drop than advertised? Looking to get something from classic industries while they have it on sale.

I would think the springs would lower the Burb more than it would a pickup because of the weight difference but we will have to see if someone who has tried it chimes in... LockDoc |

Looks like the original ground clearance info is in this document: http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs...t-Suburban.pdf You have to scroll down when it opens... LockDoc |
Re: Suburban ride height
Lockdoc, thanks a ton. That's exactly what I needed along with a ton more info. Also while researching and second guessing myself I found an awesome deal on the parts on the parts board! Win Win!
Also thanks for you sticky on the hatch lock. It saved me a lot go aggravation. |

No problem. That's what were all here for, to help each other out. Now you will be able to pass the info on to someone else when they need it...:) LockDoc |
