Dynomat under firewall pad??
 

I was wanting to reduce the heat level in the cab for in the summer…will the Dynomat sheets fit under the reproduction firewall pads? Will they hold up against the heat, not get too gooey i mean and maybe sag?

I did it, and it worked out great. Installing the pad is a pain. I made a tool to install the plastic holders that helped.

I assume that the mat and the pad get a little thick for the length of the plastic fasteners? The tool was proly for hammering the fastener on with out damaging it?

Try cutting around the dynomat where the hole is about 1/2 inch or so around the hole and remove the dynomat in this area...it should be easier to push in the pins that way.

I would recommend not using the stock
pad and put dynaliner on top of the dynamat.

Lizard Skin would probably be better at insulating against heat, it has ceramic in it.

Depends on which product you are using. Just saying "dynomat' leaves several options, as there is sound deadener, heat barrier, insulation, and a moisture barrier product.
The thicknesses range from less than 1/8" to almost 1/2".

If your firewall is getting hot enough for the insulation to sag, you've got other issues.

Ceramic coating on the headers(if you are running them, or on stock manifolds) will greatly reduce underhood temps. You can also add small relief vents in the fenderwells that can help get rid of the funnel effect of the air pushing up against the firewall. The way these are designed, all air coming thru the front grill opening goes thru the radiator(that's a good thing), but the shape of the fenderwells, funnels the air to stay under hood and only exit over the back and underneath the engine, which is just transferring the heat from the engine to the passenger compartment.

If you're just looking for heat reduction, try the homemade Lizard Skin I experimented with. I used "ceramic micro balloons" mixed into exterior latex paint. Very cheap and should work just as good as the real stuff.

I used a product called B-Quiet. Half the price of Dynamat. Same results.
