Interior heater box color

Does anyone know a good paint match to restore the inner heater box to factory color? It's for sure not black but more of a charcoal color. I'd like to match it as close as I can. Thanks

I did a 'hammered' look with a charcoal color paint from a rattle can. Looks super, IMO

Here are a few pics to compare.
The one on the left is the one I just restored using a Rustoleum semi gloss black, top coated with the Rustoleum "Hammered" Black. It is darker but still has that "Charcoal" look. Next time I'd just use a lighter grayish tone base coat instead of the black. For the project this is going in it still looks fantastic if I say so myself.... ;) The one on the right is the NOS one I have, defiantly lighter in color with much more "wavy" texture to the finish. |

I use the Rustoleum Hammered Black like DeHos has used. Looks very good but not a perfect match.

I used duplicolor metallic dark grey. I think it came out pretty close to what it looked like before. They were caked with dust inside the box so I soaked them in simple green over night. Turned out to be a two day job but very happy with how they turned out.
