Anyone have exhaust clips of their ls swapped truck?

I'm ordering a big list of parts today for my ls swap. One thing I can't decide on is exhaust. I will be running no cats, and thought about running an x or an h pipe. I'm wanting it to sound good, but I don't want it crazy loud, or be really raspy. Any suggestions?

I really like the Flowmaster 50...I have them on my truck
But if your looking to save some $$$ go with the summit street and strip..I had them on my truck before and like the rough sound

Yeah the 50 series sound good on most clips I find, but they all have factory cats still. I'm wondering what the lack of cats will do for the exhaust note. Just make it louder, or make it more raspy and crackle?

I have startup (no full exhaust) video, and video from the dyno in standard definition on my build thread. Otherwise I have an HD video of driving around in my truck (camera inside, windows open), in which you can hear it cruising.

Here's my C-10 when it was N/A 5.3 with magnaflows and shorty headers.

Not a truck, but an LQ4 with longtubes and dual 3" stainless with magnaflows that I built for my brother.

My 6.0L turbo K/5 with a spooley muffler and a 4" dynomax race bullet.

Sorry, no exhaust clips @ this time? I run 50's Flows, 2 1/2" pipe/H pipe. The truck is carbed...no cats? On a stock 5.3, she has a mellow note, till you rip the throttle ! The bigger the "mill", the more that she will kick in exhaust note? The old 383 stroker was kickin around 400 ponies, & really made some sound? Add an H or X pipe to the system, & that will tame that raspy /crackle out of the mix ;) Longhorn

Here's an idle vid of mine. It has 2.5" pipe with an x-pipe and Magnaflows.

Here's a vid of it running the autocross at GoodGuys Nashville. It's not a great vid and kinda hard to hear, but should give you an idea of the sound at different throttle levels.

sorry no vid....I'm running long tube headers, flowmaster super 40's, and flowmaster x-pipe, all 3". sounds good, not too loud till you step on it. I hate the raspy/glass pack sound, that's why no tail pipes..........

Hope to get some video when I pick it up from being tuned. I have driven it around a lot though and I love the sound. Lq4 with DT 1-7/8" tri-y's, 2.5" tubing with x pipe, hooker aero chambers. Its perfect. Nice little rumble at idle and when cruising at 25 or so, nice and quiet on the highway at 65-75, and roars like hell when you stomp on it. I've run super 44s before but that was on my SBC. Bit too noisy at highway speeds for my taste. The drone will get to you on long trips, but they're great for a weekend warrior.

I have stock truck manifolds on my 4.8L with 2.5" and super 40's turned down in front of the back axle on a 4" lifted 85 k10. No one ever believes it is a 4.8L. it isnt too loud when driving normal and sounds awesome when playing in the mud and what not.

TBSS manifolds to custom 02 piping, then to a true-dual 2.5" exhaust that dumps at the rear steps through turn-up-downs lol. It uses a pair of Mangaflow 18" bullet mufflers/resonators. There is no crossover, which on an lsx makes a very unique sound. No one thinks my truck has the engine it does. When it gets LOUD, it ends up sounding like a snappy high compression motor.... more like a 327, then the low-compression lq4 that it actually is.

I made everything myself, sitting with a sharpie, a welder, and 20ft of 2.5" pipe from the parts store.

Kudos to you man. I thought about doing it myself but that takes incredible patience. I always enjoy hearing people doing stuff like that themselves. Makes me jeleous.

I used 99 fbody manifolds, 2.5" straight pipe through dual welded thrushes and they sound great. I like the sound so much I'm getting ready to do the same to my LS1 Z28.

With this video you can here it at virtually every RPM.

I often have the luxury of time, so its less patience...and more persistence. Truthfully though, it was all necessity. I just hate paying people to do things...I hate taxes, I hate service fee's, I hate tipping waiters. I do things out of my ocd need to control everything....and in this case it ended up with a bunch of new skills haha.

A welder is the best investment you can ever make. I would tell anyone starting a project, to think of it like this; You can have a $5k budget for parts, or you could have a $4k budget for parts and a welder... Then figure that you would pay a shop $350-500+ for an exhaust, which cost about $125 in parts. Each time you do the math, you "get" a few hundred back on the cost. At the end of your project, you spent less money, got the same or better results...and you STILL keep the tool at the end. Its like buying a house vs renting a condo.

I say to anyone that wants to stop up by me; I will MIG weld anything for you on 3 conditions...
1. My labor is free but my time is expensive. Things happen when they happen, and I happen when I happen.
2. Materials are always on you. Gas/filler/raw/juice all cost money, and not my money.
3. I get to film anything and everything. *this has to do with rule 1 also.

(this whole thing doesn't apply to welding body panels, as that is part of the metalworking process for the body, and goes well beyond welding. That sh!t would cost ya)

I couldn't agree more.

Mine has been getting a workout on the last couple projects.

Sorry to get off on a tangent....I just love to weld, especially after sitting behind a computer screen 40+ hours per week.

I just got my LSx 6.0 in and had new 2.5" pipes with S/S Mega Flows installed. Here is a little clip. Plan to get a better one later today and also when it goes in for the dino tune. It's breathing a lot better though and sounding a whole lot better.:metal:

What is the secret to uploading video's now on You Tube. I tried all night last night and nothing. A 1 minute video was going to take 300 minutes to upload. I finally gave up and went to bed.:chevy:
