Richmond Gears, anyone use them?
I'm looking to do a gear swap and I'm thinking of using Richmond gears. My 65 is a daily driver and I would like the gears to be quite on the highway. I currently have Yukon gears and they're very quite but they are almost twice the price. Anyone have a bad experience with the gears from Richmond?
Thanks |

Re: Richmond Gears, anyone use them?
Richmond does make a good gear but just about every set I have used will have a little bit of noise, in your truck you will never hear it but in a car you might.Do a search on richmond gear noise.

Re: Richmond Gears, anyone use them?
A few years back I swapped from 3.08 to 4.10 in my Dana 44. I did a lot of internet research and found a site that compared all the gears on the market, brand for brand. The recommendation for the best gears was to buy from the OEM manufacturer, which I did.
I lost the web address in a computer crash and have been able to find it again, so I don’t know if they went away or were forced to shut down because of the information presented. I was interested in the Richmond gears as I have a Richmond/Super T10 4 speed. From what I remember the issues with Richmond gears were they were among the hardest to set up correctly, they ran hotter than any other brand, and they were noisy compared to everything else on the market. Their claim was Yukon Gears could be anything in the box. They could be Yukon, or just about any brand as they also repackaged other brands. I don’t have any personal experience with these gears, this is just what I read on the net. |
