how to install stock radio

I have the stock AM radio, works great and in pristine condition.

Now how do I get it into the dash? I'm not sure of the least invasive method. No ac. Heater hoses are in the way.

Take out the hoses? Still stock, don't really want to unseat them. Can they be pushed out of the way.

Not really sure how to go about this.

Stock, 4spd manual, 72 c20.

Thanks!

So a little push and it's in.

How do I set the presets?

Also, its a little loose. Is there a way to firm it in place toward the dash?

IIRC, the presets are done by tuning to the radio station you want, then pulling the desired button out toward you, then pushing back in. Done.

Radio mounting — 1970–72 vehicles

1.Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the flex hoses from the heater distributor duct under the dashboard.
2.Remove the heater control head by removing the attaching screws and pushing the unit back and down.
3.Remove the ash tray and the ash tray retainer.
4.Remove the electrical connections from the rear of the radio and also the front attaching screws and knobs.
5.Remove the mounting screw on the side of the radio chassis. Push the radio back and up before slipping it down and out of the instrument panel.
6.To install the radio, reverse the removal procedure.

Thank you for the responses.

Your post says there is a screw in the chassis of the radio. Where is this located?

I see the bracket extending from the speaker and have bolted those together, but still have some play. There must be another connection point or bracket that I an not aware of.

I think it is in the right side or the back of the radio that holds the radio to the dash.
If you run your hand around the radio you should feel the strap and bolt.
It helps to have a set of deep sockets to remove the holding nuts on the radio shafts (station & vol nobs )

What exactly do the holding nuts behind the knobs do? The name implies they should be holding sunbathing, but they don't seem to be doing anything.

Is the order on shaft: radio, nut, but, bezel, little oring washer thing, knob?

Thank you for your help.

Here is a pic on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-1972-CH...-/121250316056
When the tune and vol knobs are pulled off there is ta chrome tone adjust knob then a nut then a tin holder. with the nuts removed the radio can then start to slide back into the dash.
when the radio out looking at the radio shaft there is still one nut on each radio shaft these nuts do not need to be removed.
