C60 PTO help please
I am trying to find a pto for my Chevy c60. Right hand side, cable control, shaft output. It will run bidirectional pump for grain box. The transmission is a Clark 285v70.
What pto will work with this tranny? Is it the same as 285v or 282v? Salvage yards have not been much help. I need model numbers and or gear specs. Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you |

2 Attachment(s)
This was a
Chelsea PTO I used to have. Cost me $75.00 at a wrecking yard around here that specializes in trucks. |

Although I dont have an answer for you, you might want to post this over on the Heavy Haulers section. Lot of knowledgable guys on there.

Re: C60 PTO help please
You say you have to run a bidirectional pump. I think it will need a reversible pto unit. A Chelsea model 352 should do the job. It will need 5P-1025 input gear to be installed on a Clark 295V trans. Because it is a reversible type, a cable control will not work easily. A lever control should be used. I know you are trying to find something in the "junkyard", but, pto units, let alone a reversible type, will be a little hard to find just laying around.....

Re: C60 PTO help please
Pto drives are fairly universal from my experience. *unless its an NP203 or some reason :| There are 2 sizes that I encounter on a regular basis. The small 6 bolt that yours appears to be, and the big 6 bolt that is on heavier duty trucks. This being said there is potential for different gear cuts etc.. But I think you would be good with a pto from just about anything with that 6 bolt pattern. I was pricing out Chelsea units a while back for an Np205 which I think is the same as you need and it wa only about $300 new.

Re: C60 PTO help please
Did a typo, the 5p-1025 gear in the Chelsea 352 is for the SM420 and the Clark 285V. If you do not need a reversible pto unit ,your search should be a little easer. The output direction of most pto units is opposite engine. Check your pump to see what is required. Also you should find out how much power you need. A small pto unit will only be able to transmit no more that 8 to 10 HP and they will only have sleeve bearings that can't be run for a long time. Also most pto units, even the larger ones, will be able to transmit no more that about 35 HP. If you need more power a split shaft unit will be required.....
