3/4 ton haul

Hey y'all so as I just got a job working with a fire damper building company. I noticed the other day the giant pod they keep all the scrap metal in and that the company has to pay some one to come and take this pod. So being the welder/scrap junkie I am I see a possibly lucrative and useful! Possibility here with piles of 16 and 20 gauge sheet mmetal sitting there along with a good amount of aluminum. A long bed pick up could haul a lot of that away in just one single run. And oh wait! I have a 66 single cab long bed 3/4 ton! Hey!. My only problems are that the bed would fall through (easy enough fix) but also that looking at my suspension I have 3/4 ton axles. But half ton suspension! So I was wondering what is a god place and what parts would be good to look at to replace the 1/2 ton suspension with either one ton or 3/4 ton so I can haul all this scrap home! Thank you for all tips given.

Re: 3/4 ton haul

I really doubt you have 1/2 ton suspension if your truck came as a 3/4 and still has the correct axles.

3/4 ton trucks had coil springs and trailing arms just like the 1/2 tons, if that's what you mean. From what I've seen, it takes quite a bit of weight to squash the 3/4 ton coil setup (unlike the 1/2 tons).
