Need help figuring this out

Today I replaced the fuel pump on my truck, now the carb (quadrajet) is getting too much gas and it sputters and leaks all over the place. It ran fine until I took it back up the huge hill to get home, I was driving at 50/55mph the whole way up and with 4.10's in the back it was revving pretty high. Once I reached the top and let off the throttle it started to sputter, it limped home and I saw this when I opened the hood:

Gasoline was literally dripping off the carb around the base of the air cleaner

You can see how wet the intake is from the fuel overflow

IMO, Could be a few different things...
Bad fuel inlet seat
Float may need adjusted
Trash in the fuel inlet not allowing the seat to close
Fuel pressure too high
Bad float

I'd check fuel pressure first, everything else will most likely require disassembly, a rebuild, and new gaskets.

Hmm how do you check the fuel pressure?

Is this an electric fuel pump?

Nope it's mechanical. It's a 1975 3/4 ton with a 350.

Fuel pressure tester or inline gauge

It looks like the float got stuck. I had a float stick on my convertible last summer. I took it off on the side of the road in less than 5 minutes and brought it home, took it apart, and noticed the float has a little drag to it but nothing drastic. I put it back together and it hasn't done it again. Mine was just a fluke, yours could be a bad needle and seat at the worst. It's still easier than trying to sort out an efi problem.

Check everything joe231 posted. Personally I'd look for trash in the carb. Reason I'd start there, I haven't rigged up a pressure setup yet and you did just break loose the fuel lines.

My thinking, you just increased the fuel pressure/flow with the new pump plus breaking loose the lines= far greater chance for breaking something loose. (deposit, flap of gasket, general dirt...)
