Flush Mounted Glass - WIndshield - Back Glass
Anybody have any ideas on flush mounted glass? Was curious for a 56. Maybe its not really do-able. Dont want to go with plastic.

Everything is "do-able" how many mods it takes to do it is another story. I haven't seen flush mounted glass on one of those but I can imagine the body would need some work to pull it off as the glass is too small to fill the hole up.

I'd imagine that you could use the urethane rope style windshield seal that is still used on a lot of cars and lay the glass against that and then run a strip of the S-10 style trim around it. You most likely will have to cut the glass to fit though.
If you have the glass out lay it in the opening against the flange and see how it fits and if it fits close enough to the edges to work. you need enough room for the molding to clip down in the slot around the window but not so much a gap would show. I was thinking about doing the same thing on my front and rear windows about 15 years ago when I was all caught up in having the trick of the week and doing things that weren't done on other trucks trick wise. I think that is what burned me out on trucks and hot rods for several years. Being caught up in having to have the trick of the week and being one step ahead of the others that is. |
