1965 c10 fleetside tailgate removal and install
 

i currently have my C10 getting a full paint job and reassemble

i removed the tail gate by seperating the sides apart to get it off the hinges

is there a better way to install can i do it last once the bed is assembled and wood kit fitted?

Use masking tape to protect all surfaces. Have a second person help you. Fit the hinge pockets onto the gate and have bolts ready. Lay the gate in the "down" position and feed one side into the sloted area. Move the end you chose close to the mounting area and keep the other end high. Now slip the other end into the channel and slide it down into position. Each of you secure your bolts and gently raise the gate to check alignment. Loosen bolts and adjust as needed. Secure everything once its aligned and remove tape.
