Dash insert

Has anyone here seen a dash insert like this one. I like the way it angles the gauges up toward the driver.
I think I would drill the head light holes back into the orignal spot but would really like to know where this came from.

I like that idea as well. I have the aftermarket plastic gauge console and while it serves it's purpose, i'd like to have the gauges angled more towards me as well.

I have the stock bezal in my truck angled slightly but it's not enough. Would really like to find this and see how it would work.
I have even thought about cutting a glove box door with the angle in it.

If you angle it upward, are you going to have issues with light reflecting off the windshield at night. I have an aftermarket tach bolted to my steering column. It's down and to the right in front of the blank hole on the gauge cluster. But I still get a light reflection right in my line of sight.

I've had the same issue with tachs (column mounted) - the reflections would drive me bonkers. Andy, I can't see your dash picture(??) I'd be cautious of the reflection stuff also, maybe a mock up before getting too far into an involved mod, dunno.

I have seen, on this forum, take a spare glovebox door and mod it so that it looks just like the photo you have.

Re: Dash insert

I would think since the dash would be sunk in up top the reflection wouldn't be a problem. Since I posted this the orignal owner sent me a PM back he made it himself and that he no longer works at the place that he did so. He hasn't the tools anymore to make them. I wished I knew how to do fiberglass work.;):chevy:

Ah, now I can see the pic. I think that as long as the bottom edge of the gauges doesn't protrude further than the top edge of the dash pad, you'd be good to go. Good job for a plumb bob. I'm a poet and I didn't know it.
