Heartthrob exhaust kits
Has anyone here used the heartthrob exhaust kit on your truck I am looking at getting one for my suburban cause it is way cheaper than the muffler shop. The only kit they have is for exhaust manifolds but I have headers and am curious if someone might have run into this issue and if you have how hard was it to modify

Re: Heartthrob exhaust kits
I haven't used any of their truck exhaust kits, but I did put one of their dual exhaust kits on my 74 Nova about 15+ years ago. It's still on the car and has held up good over the years.
If I remember correctly, it has a couple of fairly short down pipes that run from the manifolds down to the exhaust pipes that run back to the mufflers. If the truck exhaust kits are setup in a similar manner, I don't think it would be all that difficult to modify for headers. I think you could pretty much just replace those manifold down pipes with a couple of adapter pipes that would connect to the header collectors. |
Re: Heartthrob exhaust kits
I installed one of their kits on a '79 C20 with a 454 about 10-12 years ago. It was a decent kit and went together easily. Other than taking the truck to a muffler shop to have the old studs removed from the manifolds and new ones installed it went together fairly easily in my driveway with hand tools.
I'm planning on putting together my own exhaust on my C10 once the weather warms up and I can work on it again. I bought a universal x-pipe kit from Summit, Flowmaster pre-bent tailpipes and some generic turbo mufflers. |
Re: Heartthrob exhaust kits
I used one of there systems on my 74 SWB, was not exactly right but I easily made it fit correctly and has held very well.
