Resetting the oil life % dash warning.
Can anyone tell me the proper way to reset the oil life warning on the dash after an oil change?
Thanx in advance Dano |
Re: Resetting the oil life % dash warning.
Turn the ignition on (engine off), pump the accelerator three times within five seconds of turning the ignition on, then turn the ignition off. I don't know what vehicle you're talking about, but this works on a lot of the newer gm products.

That's the ticket, key on engine off pump 3 times. Vehicles with the upgraded DICs can go through the steering wheel buttons too but they all work with the gas peddle. Turn it off when you're done and it will ding and flash a message that you're good to go and back to 100%.

If you have the DIC, you can reset it thru there. If not, the key method will be what you need to do.

Re: Resetting the oil life % dash warning.
Once again if you have a DIC, then select the oil life and push the reset check mark button. The old turn the key on, but do not start, then push the gas pedal three times and whisper please reset my oil as you do it works well. There is a little mic in the dash that can hear your whispers.

Since it's a work truck, you can also use the trip/reset button, on the upper right part of the cluster.
Press it until you see oil life on the display, Then press and hold to reset it. |
