Bed bolts

I'm needing to buy some bed bolts to mount bed to frame. Is the size I'm needing 3/8 in x 4 in carriage bolt?

Re: Bed bolts

Are you a steel floor or wood... Most of the suppliers have them... Classic auto Parts in KC, LMC, Brothers, of Mar-K... Those are all good suppliers for wood beds But Mar-K is where alot of them get their bolt sets... Classic Parts I think is a better Set for Steel Beds...

no need to spend the money for shipping // get good quality stainlewss steel at ace hardeware lowes home depot for a fraction of the price and end up with better bolts too

Just trying to get ready to ship. I'm going to hardware store to get bolts. Steel floor too. This is what I'm working with.

Whatever.. I would NEVER use bolts on my truck from a Lumber Yard... I can tell you there is a huge difference... But at the end of the day it is your truck...

Re: Bed bolts

I'm not certain what grade bolts are needed, but grade 5 would make me happy.
When buying online w/ no claims of quality or w/o a statement about where they came from, I'd guess the bolts are Asian and grade 2 or less.
As I recall, the bolts that came w/ my Global West body bushing set for the Camaro looked pretty Asian to me.
Maybe Fastenall, or ARP, or someone has quality carriage bolts?

Re: Bed bolts

Not needing quality. Just wasn't sure on size. Like I said just need to bolt on for shipping. Truck will be blown back apart by well known name on here. Don't wanna let the cat out off the bag....but probably already have. Lol!!

Re: Bed bolts

One more request. What size bolts are needed for front bed panel and what size bolts are needed to bolt steel floor to bed sides?

Elliot949 02-09-2014 12:02 AM

Re: Bed bolts

They are all the same size... 5/16" X 3/4" for both the head panel and bedsides...

Re: Bed bolts

I know I'm wearing out this thread...but what size and style bolts are needed to attach bed panel to bed sides. This bed has been apart for a couple of years and cannot remember what bolts are used. I looked on LMC and they do not give the size of bolts. They do not look like carriage bolts in the pictures.

Re: Bed bolts

It just takes 5/16X 3/4" standard style bolts with washers and lock washers

Re: Bed bolts

What about the four bolts that screw into four holes on the front panel? There is two on each side in the upper corners.

Re: Bed bolts

Those are also standard 5/16 X 3/4" with lock washer and flat washer of course all bolts on these trucks are standard SAE thread...
