Big Block Edelbrock 1407 Throttle Shaft Leaking Gas?

When I changed my Edelbrock 1407 accelerator pump linkage to a new hole (3 holes to choose from) my throttle shaft started dripping gas! It eventually stopped but what does this mean and is this a possible vacuum leak?
