Nothing cooler than a Chevy at Chevy

Some of you may have picked up through my threads that I work at one of our local Chevrolet Dealerships and have been with GM since 1989 (in my 20's). Chevrolet has been in my blood from day one. Our family has always been a Chevy family and will always be.

I drive 70 miles to commute to and from work and use the 50 Burb most of the time, but had jumped over to this side of the Forum when we found the Orange truck and have been driving the wheels off it since we picked it up. I'm the guy at work that drives cars/trucks that are older than I am and most of the people that work here. When I started driving the 65 I got comments like " why do you drive such an old vehicle every day?" my response: " It's 15 years NEWER than the Suburban!"

Before 67-72 I was a Tri 5 guy and had completely restored a 55 wagon that ended up being to nice to haul our dogs in and use as a daily driver. before I lowered it, our Dealer owner asked if our marketing department could use the car for our new ( back then) campaign " Times have changed, but what important hasn't" and showcase the 55 wagon in front of the Dealership. I was excited! They also used it for our local cruise in and car show that tops 1500 cars from around the NW. It was a huge honor for me and the work that I had put into the car. I had worked in the Service department and stayed late during the week, come in early and also put in many weekends tearing it apart for the body shop and the reassembling it and adding disc brakes, suspension etc. We sold the car and picked up a basket case Suburban, again getting it looking good and performing well for my DD during the Dealership remodel. After the remodel was done, we had a kick-off party and again, they wanted to use my vehicle! It's that time of year again with GM and TV commercials, ad campaigns etc and I was asked if they could use the 65. I was again honored.

It's great to be blessed with the ability we all have to see the history in these trucks, the work we put into them and the friends we make through the conversations we have while driving them or just turning a wrench with the garage door open. It's also with great appreciation that I have been able to work for an Owner that truly enjoys the older classics and want to use them to promote business in our community and beyond. In High School I wanted to work for a Chevy Dealer while attending College. I started with GM during my sophomore year and have worked for 4 GM dealerships (3 Chevrolet) here in the area for the last 25 years, sweeping floors then washing lot cars, detailing, parts sales, management, service writing and now running a body shop and the highlights of my career........These next photos

all of your rides are top shelf. the dealer should be honored to have your cars on there lot. they should have put your truck next to a new truck.

Very cool, love the photos! Something to be very proud of for sure!
My local GM dealership (which I have dealt with for over 12 yrs now) asked me if they could take a photo of my truck along side one of the new GMCs shortly after I got my truck back on the road late last summer. I was very humbled & proud that they wanted my truck in a dealership photo to post on their Facebook page with the caption "Never forget where you came from" I'm sure those framed photos will be displayed proudly in your home as well as you office.

That is too dang cool. You've got some beautiful Chevys and they look awesome in front of the dealership next to the new ones. That's really cool that owner lets you work on your stuff after work and on the weekends. Dino is also friends with the owner of a Chevy dealership in Phoenix, and he also gets to park his trucks in front of the dealership from time to time. Think about it, what a great way to attract new customers.

I am a tried and true Chevy guy as well. That's all we had growing up, and my first ride home from the hospital was in a '57 Bel Air, and I was hooked ever since. We had some really cool Chevelles, Impalas, and Novas around the house when I was growing up.

Outstanding! Not sure which is most enviable: Your restoration skills, your vehicle collection, or your thouroughly healthy situation at work.

You make those new cars look pretty mundane (except maybe the Camaro).
These would make great posters, why not market some? I'll be your first customer.

That is one nice truck.
Read thru your build thread the other day and didn't notice any mention on why your 65 has 66 emblems on it.
Was it a late 65 production number and came that way ?

That's quite an honor Newfisher ! Love the 55, ah who am I kidding ? I love the all ! Great work !!

Re: Nothing cooler than a Chevy at Chevy

Thanks fellas!

65C20...I was told the emblems are in the 64 position, but titled as a 65. It was originally orange and has one repaint on it. They could have dropped them down from the cowl at that time.
