Gas tank moving to rear
 

Ok have done a ton of searching on this. I have a 85 GMC stepside. I mounted the 25 gal blazer tank. That went great tank sits in there just fine. This is were all the post stop. Can not really find any good post on what or were people have mounted the fuel filler neck. I do not want to go though the bed floor. So Went to a junk yard and found a 70 something blazer. I cut the 1/4 off it with the gas cap indent and took the filler neck. Going to weld it into my rear fender. Looks like it will fit no prob. But will I have any problems using that old style gas cap? Looking at the one on my truck looks like there is some vents in the cap. I do have the EEC Carb

There was a guy that had a dually crew cab on here that ran his up the back stake pocket and behind the tail light. I know. you have a stepside. but it might get an idea going. Another trick might be to go to a marine supply and look at some of the fuel caps they have. Another thought might be to look at the design that GM used on the 67-72 trucks for their auxiliary tanks.

Let us know if the fuel tank on the rear makes a diffrence with the chevy lean.. If your truck has it ..

I have always had the thought of cutting out the fuel door in front and moving it to the back if I ever did that.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to go through the bed floor?..but whatever...I have the blazer tank as well, but turned it so the filler neck was facing the rear, cut a few inches off the neck, slipped on a rubber 90* and fill through the bed floor....easy to get to, fills quick, simple.

Well here is what I came up with. Found a old Blazer in the junk yard(could not believe it) But ended up going though the left fender. Worked out pretty good.

Took the old gas door opening cut the hing off it and glued it in place. I glued cuz I want it to be sealed. Now little bit of filler and will be done.
