Dash Pad Compatability
Does anyone know if a dash pad from a 1979-1980 would fit into a 1981-1987? They sure look like the mounting points are the same. Only differences I noticed was the vent trim doesn't wrap around on the older one and the overhang over the gauge cluster is not as deep. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Re: Dash Pad Compatability
they will interchange... the only issue with the older dash pads are the early ones don't have the VIN cut out

I did a trial fit ,it left a funny gap over the bezel area and if the vin is "up" remove that Vin area clip,if no pad hole for it |

The gauge bezel on 81-87's are thicker and they will stick out past the 73-80 dash pad .It looks funny. You can change the bezel to the older style to match the older pad.

I did take some,but can't find the inside ones,while stripping my 88
I had to remove the headlight switch,it dosn't fit in the hole, early bezel |
Re: Dash Pad Compatability
I actually have this combo. My cab is a 79, but my dash is from an 84. I didn't do it, the previous owner did, but I've done a bit of homework.
Yes, the bezel is different, I've also got the 81-87 bezel in mine. MOST of the mounting holes are the same. Everything on the passenger side is the same, but I think there was one mounting tab just above the bezel and gauges that was different. You can cut a new hole, or just pull that particular clip off the dash and don't utilize it. |
Re: Dash Pad Compatability
i wanna see the later bezel on early dash if any you have that.
