gas gauge

Is there a way to adjust the gauge. It reads 1/8 tank when bone dry.Is it just bending the float rod?It is for my suburban. The tank is dry,so I can drop the tank pretty easy.

Check the ohm reading on your sending unit with the tank "bone
dry", (empty). Also, the tank/sending unit needs to be well grounded. It is easy to check the reading at the fuse panel where the wire from the tank plugs in. If it reads o or close to o ohms, do one more check and ground the tank wire. If the dash unit still does not go to empty then you will want to adjust the needle on the guage in order to get it to go to empty.

The dash unit does not have a positive stop, so you guess at how far to move it. (Pull the needle off and reposition it).

Good luck!

Jim
