4 wheel drive emblems

I keep seeing 4 wheel drive emblems on e-bay. I have a 1971 chevy 4x4 it does not have these onit. My question is did all 4x4's have these originally. and where should they be located?

I think they were used in 68, 69 and 70. They went under the front marker light on the fender.

Were these only on the blazers?

:agree:, having owned several original 4wds of the 67-72 variety over the years, I believe these were only used from 1968-70. The 4 wheel drive emblems were originally mounted under the front fender reflector/marker light, but these days you will see them mounted in several locations. Also dont go by the aftermarket catalog for year applications as they each list different years as with a lot of the reproduced parts saying they fit all years, which alot of them will but its up to the end restorer/builder to decide if it really belongs or not. No, they were on the 68-70 K/10-20's also. Going back to my above reply about aftermarket catalog applications, I think that one of the catalogs list the 4wd's as a blazer only part. Mel :chevy:

Weren't they used on 307 equipped trucks. Seems as though I have only seen them when the vehicle only had the 307 as the 292s and 350s I have seen always seemed to have the motor designation under the marker light. Trevor

I think they were used on all 4 wheel drives from 68-70. 68 didn't have an engine badge, and 69-70 the optional engine was towards the back of the fender underneath the series emblem. (as pictured above) 71-72 had the engine ID under the marker light.

No 4 Wheel Drive badge in 71/72,once the optional engine designate badge moved to under the fender marker.
