1991 k5 blazer build
1 Attachment(s)
Well I guess I'm going to have to break down and start a build thread. A little back ground. Growing up we had a used car lot. When I was 15 we got in a purple k5 blazer that I wanted really bad to be my first car. For whatever reason my dad didn't want me to have it. Fast forward to 31, I decided that I really wanted to find a blazer to build with/for my little boy. My dad metioned that his friend might want to part with his. It was an extremely clean 1991 k5 (v10) blazer. One of the very last to roll off of the line. I didn't know it at the time but while it was extremely mechanically sound the paint was pretty rough. Looked great going down the road but once you got close flaws jump out at you from everywhere. Well my first major order of business was to get her painted to avoid major rust problems later on. In the near future she will get 6 inches of lift, some mickey thompson classic 16x10 wheels and some 35 inch trail grapplers along with being regeared to 4.27. I also have a motor out of a 2010 ss camaro sitting in my shop. Here she is and how far I've gotten so far.

I work in the oil field and as you can prob tell from this pic the first order of business when I get home from my hitch will be to change out my leaky transfer case. Drives me nuts.

Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
Looking good, had 3 Blazers myself over the years, cool trucks. Think 6" lift and 35's should work out nicely too.:D

Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
Thanks man. I'm really excited. It's been really hard for me to be at work this week with all that's going on with it at home.

Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
Ahh, it all takes time. We have over 5 1/2 ft of snow here now and working on everyone else's 4x4's...but want to get to mine to add more ideas to it. At least your on it lately, should turn out nice, any paint color idea's or sticking with all black. I used Nitto Mud Grappler's on my truck lately, sure a great tire.

Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
It's actually a dark metallic blue and I'm going back with it. Right now I've found some mud grapplers for 279 each so they may get the nod over the trails. I've just heard they're really loud which I kind of like but I wonder if I'd get tired of it.

Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
It's a 4x4, might as well sound like it too right, actually they are a lot quieter than i thought and sure look nice too, man can they dig, had them out in 3 ft of snow and just ripped right threw. My buddy i work with has had a set of 35's on his Toyota for about 1 1/2 years and
said best tire he has ever had, plus wears really nice too. |

Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
That is going to be sharp when it is finished. One of my favorite colors on the later squares.
|
Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
That is going to be sweet.

Re: 1991 k5 blazer build
I really like that color too. I'd never have picked it but now that I've seen the fresh jams I really like it. It's getting color tomorrow. As soon as it comes out of the oven he's supposed to call me and I'll go get y'all some more pictures. I'm not sure I'll be able to sleep tonight.
