So this is what a rolled K5 looks like

I guess a roll bar can be useful. The Hickey roll bar (not the one in the pic) seems a little puny but better than nothing I imagine...

Re: So this is what a rolled K5 looks like
How depressing, I guess anything that helps keep space between the head and asphalt is a good thing....

Re: So this is what a rolled K5 looks like
I've seen one without a roll bar go tires up. The windshield folded completely flat on top of the driver and passenger without putting up any kind of resistance. Yes, they were hurt bad. So even a small 4-point roll bar as seen in the picture is a life saver if not a truck saver.

That's sad to see Deadhead. Is that yours? Where u in it? Everyone OK?
Makes me wanna look into a roll bar. Anyone have suggestions on where to find one? Still coming to NM this month? Morey |
Re: So this is what a rolled K5 looks like
Damn that sucks. The roll bar more than likely saved their live. Hope everyone is ok. You can buy a kit on eBay for 300-500. Hard to find the stock rollbars anywhere.

Amazing how many you see running around with nothing but blind faith that the window frame will protect them.

Re: So this is what a rolled K5 looks like
Glad it wasn't Yours. A simple roll bar helps even in a road rollover. The window frame is weak to say the least. Years of internal rust leaves most of them pretty thin to begin with. I will be putting one back in this summer. The one that was in wasn't built very well and I believe was just schedule 40 pipe. Wasa six point though but blocked the glove box door and the p o cut it to be able to get it Open. I have a new one but the old spid is damaged on the stock one. I need to get one of the repro ones off The guy on here that makes them. I think the one on eBay that look like the one smittybilt used to make would work out prett good. I've thought about hooking the upper tubes to the windshield frame but it might be too much for it to handle off road when the body flexes.

Any one have a picture or any info on what a rolled K5 looks like with the top on?

Re: So this is what a rolled K5 looks like
Thanks Hombre. I'm gonna look into one.
By the way, what's the difference between the two tops everyone's talking about. Double versus single wall. Is the double an insulated version? |

Re: So this is what a rolled K5 looks like
Nope it wasn't me Pete...just some pics I found somewhere on the Internet years ago. I wish I knew the story behind it....I'm betting the outcome wasn't good for anyone that was in it.
