16.5 x 8 - 6 Lug Wheels w/Clips ?
Helping a friend of mine today who runs an auction service. Prepping for a sale in April of an old repair shop that has been in operation since the early '30s. Seen some really cool stuff I've never seen before. One item I seen was a gas engine operated 1/2" drill. NEVER have seen one of those.
Anyways, upstairs in the dimly lit attic I found what appeared to be 16.5 x 8 or 8.25 6 lug wheels with clips for center hubcaps. So far have only found two but still digging for items so may be more scattered about. Anyone have an idea what they might fit or when they were used. Really not very good lighting upstairs and not sure on the 8 or 8.25 but definetly were 16.5 and 6 lug with clips. Are all 6 lug wheel patterns the same for fit? Not sure of the center hub hole size, no tape measure with me. Would not work on my truck as it is a 4x4 with locking hubs but might be some good trading material if I could figure out what they were and what they came off of. Any idea on value with out pics? Seem to be in very good shape with minimal rust, just dusty and dirty from storage. Will try to get pics next time I go help him again. |

Special-K would be the man to ask.

Musicman, followed the link on the wheels and that sure looked to be them. Will have to PM o/p and ask for some information on them. They wouldn't work on my 4x4 because center caps with the lock-out centers would not mount but could be killer on a 2wd truck.

I pulled a set of 4 off a 68 3/4 ton 2wd a few years back. Didn't seem to be much interest in them. I think i ended up getting $100 for all 4. I think 68 was the last year for clips.

Thanks for the added info. Not sure I can find another pair at the business, think there would be more interest in a set of 4 rather than a pair. Thanks, :chevy:

These were wide wheels made for earlier trucks. Even 1/2 tons used the same clip-on caps till '61(?) when they started using nubs. A guy with a '50s or earlier truck would want a pair for the rear...especially a longbed. That would look great with stock hubcaps

Tim, thanks for the added info. Guess when I get back to prepping for the auction I will look for couple more rims. Maybe some good trading stock after all, huh? Wish they were the nub style, I would run them on my '71 4x4 with some stock caps. Currently running rallys, would be nice to be able to change "shoes" once in awhile. :chevy:

I had a set of 9.75 x 16.5 9-lug clip-type I was going to use on my '71 K/10 SWB Stepside (with 1t axles). I was going to run the '50s hubcaps that look like baby moons with Chevrolet stamped in them

I found a set with the nubs and posted pics and info on the Blazer forum; here's the link. They are a rare option and I found
very little about them and hardly any photos till I found that guys build. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=613788 Link also includes a great build of another member with some photos of the rims painted up for his plow truck; Awesome. |

I had a '72 C/10 with 5-lug 8.25 x 16.5s that had outer nubs. I ran '55 Chevy car hubcaps. Looked pretty wild
