Question for Keith Seymore or anybody that knows R/Axle Codes

2 Attachment(s)
When we where redoing my 77 Chevy Sport frame and rear axle I took a picture of the code. I know the KBD stands for 3:73 Locking Def.. The 164 is the Julian date of the axle. W is for the Windsor Axle plant. 72 I presume is for
1977 and the 2 is for second shift. The one I do not know is the far right which is "F". On Camaro's and Vettes the "E" is for Eaton Posi. What is the
"F" for?? Anybody?? Thanks Larry. :chevy:

Which still did not tell me what the F is for

80SPORT: Yes you are correct; dug my Alan Colvin book out. Not sure where
I got Windsor at?? OK; still wonder what the F stands for. Who else made the
posi units for GM besides Eaton?? Larry:chevy:

It may have been an "E" when it started, or the punch missed from the get go. I can't think of what F would mean in this regard.

I'm sorry guys; I don't have anything handy on axle codes.

I'll see what I can find.

I believe I found my answer until I hear something different. This email was
sent to me from a "Code Expert".

Larry

My guess would be if you look at the base of the 2 it is missing. Just wonder when it was struck the bottom of the gang was tilted causing the bottom of the "2" missing and the "E" to become an "F".

So it looks like T/S was correct. Thank You. Larry:chevy:
