Roof Panel 60-63 Question

I notice the First gen chevy truck guys (49-55)
can order any/all sheet metal to build / restore there truck .
yes even the roof sheet metal this wasn't so just a few years back.
I feel it's just a mater of time before The industry starts
filling our need by repop roof panel
.
My question is ......
.
Over or under how long before I will get a catalog
in the mail with product's like
A Roof panel for 60-63 Chevy trucks

Ill start........
I think within 24 month before a 60-63 repo roof panel in availlable
Or rear cab section for Big window for 60-66 chevy truck
.
What say you truck guru guys?
.
Anyone have a link to the roof repair post .? thanks.... Sp

Re: Roof Panel 60-63 Question

You know, it almost angers me that they dont make these parts for our trucks. I think EVERY member on this forum that needs these parts for their
60-66 should drop a (friendly) line to all the big parts guys (Classic Parts of America) for starters. Its not like our roof panels are anything wild looking!

I've been waiting for years.....how about metal hoods? Can only get fiberglass in aftermarket.

Re: Roof Panel 60-63 Question

These trucks are gaining massive traction in popularity so I don't think it will be much longer before those roof panels finally become available.

Or complete floors? You can practically rebuild a 47-55 out of a catalog now.

Re: Roof Panel 60-63 Question

When I first got mine as a $200 trade I couldn't give it away. Short fleet original motor trans in primer. Had a short fleet bed no rust sold for $200. The junk yards dried up the '67-72 were way overpriced then this one started to gain value. Now I have had 3 this one being a 62 I have had to Fab more than the 63-66. So "shut up" on finding parts. Miss days spent digging. Thanks to those finding survivors.

The roofs & hoods (and almost floors) are the same from 60-66? Did I miss something? This is the issue we're talking about....having to fab due to parts not being available. And especially with so many having been crushed and off to scrap.

Re: Roof Panel 60-63 Question

I was just going off the earlier mention there are no parts. I don't live in the rust belt so most my body panels need fixin not so much rust. I was all excited when new fenders came out. Now I hate the fact though the originals were beat I should have saved them. Roofs are not a popular repop are they? Hoods? Not sure you could not find a good used one. Use to be the torpedo hoods were taken off for the 62-66, now it coming back with the dual headlights. Just saying original parts are worth finding, some just get lazy and don't want to put in the work to do things right.

Hoods are like gold in these parts due to the climate. We average 46" of rain a year here....you get around 5" a year in Las Vegas and that doesn't include our snowfall and the lovely salt that NC DOT puts down. It is a rare find to find a hood in the mid-atlantic region that doesn't need a lot of work. I agree with using OEM parts. But sometimes that's not the option due to cost or location. The repops could be nice pieces if they would take the time to fix the fitment issues that most people encounter. A lot of people don't have the time or tools or experience to refab and weld in metal, and a decent repop replacement is the only option, which makes it hard if its not reproduced. I see a lot of people looking for roof skins....Ive cut the top off every donar cab I've ever had and sold them for donars on other trucks.

I have found a solid donar hood for my stepside project, but two years of local looking to obtain it.
