noob that picked up a 68 stepper

i picked this up the other day pretty happy with my find its a 68 c10 short step with a strait 6 and 3 on the tree. i have a 97 firebird with a lt1 so theres no need for the truck to go fast as long as it tows my boat once and a while ill be happy with the 6... it needs cab corners rockers and some floor work to say the least im going to try and work with the box steel cause the fenders are kinda rusted threw in some spots and the box rails are beat up and such probably going to go with the flat black treatment so as i slowly patch things up i can cover it up and not worry about paint matches as flat black blends in pretty damn good...before i talk more on with the photos

after the first day of bringing it home i poured gas in the carb and of course with a boost she fired right up however even hooking a line from a jerry can to the fuel pump (naturally the tank had bad gas and is pretty grungy inside) the carb wouldnt deliver the fuel so a new filter and a carb rebuild (instructions via youtube) she fired right up. and as a celebration i drove it up and down the road a few times. then i got locked into first gear, common problem right and reach under the hood and yank the linkages? not so simple i looked underneith the truck and found the linkages on the tranny were loose AND the rod to tranny connector had both been welded after some adjustments. its still locked in gear after readjusting and pulling so ill have to spend some more time figuring it out. id really like to keep the 3 on the tree so i may end up taking the colum out to see if theres anything i can tighten up or shim we shall see:devil:

oh i forgot the story on the truck...it was used as a yard truck for a transport company had a massive battery in the back for boosting big rigs and even has a boat style battery selector switch (might keep it in there as an antitheft device lol) but the guy that worked for the company and drove the truck since new bought it when the company put the truck out of service then it sat for over 10 years it was bought by a scrapper and i bought it from the scrapper...just for ****s and giggles heres a crappy video of me driving it down the road

Cool great that you got it before the scrapper scrapped it! Warning these trucks are addictive!

BIG PROBLEM! Where is your spare tire mount? LOL

I like man! You have some big wins there: I6, 3 OTT, bench seat, and a stepside. :) :) :) :)

Yes the tranny sounds like a mess!

My truck is just like yours except for the spare tire mount on side (which I love). Good luck and keep us posted!
