C-20 rebuild by Chip Foose

I am sure this has been covered before, but thought some newer forum folks such as myself might appreciate this. Came across an old episode of "Overhaulin'" from 2008 that has them rebuilding a 1971 C-20 Camper Special. This was of special interest to me as I have the 1970 version. I am always thirsty for information and ideas for the 3/4 ton as they seem to be the red headed stepchild to the C-10. I think this truck looks fantastic and really surprised me at how cool a slightly lowered custom C-20 can look. You can find the episode on Netflix. Click on 2008 and go to show labeled " family trickster".

I liked the truck before Chip got ahold of it. Looked like my truck's younger brother.

I agree to the extent that I prefer originality and a tougher stance truck myself, however I can appreciate the build they performed. Having little experience with this I look for procedures and products I can apply for my own up coming build, and very little is around for the C-20. BTW your truck is a vision of what I would like to do to my truck. Original as possible with some modern sprinkled in for performance and reliability.

No. Actually I did a search on Pinterest for "Chevy C-20" to look at some ideas and one photo had a link to a Classic Trucks magazine article about the truck. It mentioned it was built by Foose so I looked through the available episodes on Netflix and found it. Here is the article:

I can appreciate the idea behind Foose's stuff, but I wouldn't let him paint my lawnmower. Everything really turns into a Boydster. I wish he'd quit cutting up classic cars, unless they're basket cases.

I do like the seats. I wonder what they are from?

Beau08 thanks for posting this up and mentioning that its on netflix! I know what i will be watching sometime this weekend. It sucks that i dont get speed channel any more. I miss watching Stacey Davids Gearz, too bad he dosn't show up on Netflix, or amazon's streaming channel.

I think in the show they mentioned that they are out of an H3, but required pretty extensive mods to fit and work properly.

Thanks, I appreciate that!
Like a few others said, I do like the seats and upholstery that wound up being in the truck.
The before version is the perfect bomb-around truck, which is what I was looking for to begin with before I got mine.

I do think the outline around the tailgate letters is pretty slick

it was sitting next to a gorgeous restored 71 C20 Custom Deluxe (which I liked a lot better than the overhaulin truck) at Brothers a few years ago. Tried to talk to the guy a bit, but he seemed annoyed by looky lou questions, so I just ogled the white over olive 71 C20 and moved along.... Anyhoo, here's a pic of it.

The Overhaulin truck looks killer!
I personally like Foose and his work.
He has done a lot to create interest in our hobby/obsession.
I don't understand why he is criticized so much?

I also greatly like foose. I've never understood why people dislike him so much. He's an artist that's doing what all of us wish we could do for a living. His ideas may be over the top but he truly makes them one off. I have great respect for him and what he does. I say give him the same respect as if he is a board member.

100% agree 67ctener. If I could afford to I would work on his team for free just to learn and get the experience!!

I like chips work as well, my only dislike is his tendency to two tone everything. Otherwise he's awesome at what he does. He can overhaul my truck anytime he wants!:metal:
