1990 GMC SWB beater project

5 Attachment(s)
I just picked up this little 90 swb cheap to fix up some and use as a beater pickup.
110k original miles, no rust, no leaks, ac works great, needs some tlc mostly cosmetic, & has some "SWEET" retro 80's graphics & custom woody interior! :metal:

Future Plans:
Fix a few mechanical issues
paint the hood and roof light blue
shackle down the rear 2" to level
possibly bigger wider tires or different wheels and tires
New tint, asap
Enjoy it and save some miles on my 2007

A friend of mine bought one of those brand new back in 1990 or maybe 1991. I got married in '91 and I remember he had it then. His was pearl white with purple pinkish graphics. His had the wood trim inside it as well. That was a nice truck!

He got married in about 1993 or 1994 and moved to Little Rock. The truck was stolen and the police found it a week or so later completely stripped. I guess his insurance paid for it because he never drove it again. He bought his wife a Beretta :(

I also had a cousin who had a dark blue stepside about that model with the graphics and stripes on it. He got drunk and wrecked it! Beautiful truck. A friend went to the wrecking yard that bought it and got the wheels & tires off of it, but otherwise just about everything else was junk.

My dad has a white '90 GMC stepside now. The truck looks almost brand new as Dad rarely drives it. Radio & speakers aren't working, but everything else is. Those were nice trucks.

Good luck with your project. GTT

Thanks guys!
I got the old nasty purple tint off and some new window seals in this weekend. Already looks better! Going after some chrome fender trim tonight to put back on it. Located some 2" shackles just need to go get them & put them on.

Yeah, keeping it retro late 80's early 90's! What was once old is new again someday they say. I was a 90's kid. :smoke:

I am keeping the side graphics but going to paint the hood solid blue. It's a little much, Lol

I've hunted all over for a set of the old prime 5 star or tri-fan wheels,I fell in love with these trucks in the early 90s,and I still think stuff from that era looks good.

Replaced the IAC valve & got the new fender trim on last week. Also had to put a new radiator in over the weekend & changed the oil to Valvoline 10/40 with some Lucas treatment.
Starting to look, run and drive a little better. Front end and brakes are next...
