Just Picked Up Today 1987 Custom Deluxe 84000 Original Miles
3 Attachment(s)
My newest addition. 1987 Custom Deluxe. Has 84000 original miles. 5.0 with a 700r4, radio delete, working a/c, pretty plain jane. Also got the original Ralleys which I plan on reinstalling instead of the Torque Thrust. Still has original paint that the po did a quick buff on, a little beat up here and there but gives it character. The original owner used this on his ranch, got all original paper work from when he bought it, pretty cool, only cost him about 9k back then.

Weird... Ac but no other options almost. I like custom deluxe's. Less luxury more truck!

I guess in Texas you have to have a/c. I have had several Silverados and half of the power options dont work anyways.

Is that cloth seat original? Though the had vinyl seats.

Not 100% sure. PO said he had it redone and said it was like the factory but I thought they had vinyl also. I'll have to look into that.

The Custom Deluxe models must have become fancier in 87. My 82 has no side trim or fender lip moldings. It does have power steering, but I'm not sure if that was standard or an option. Its manual disc brakes work exceptionally well. Seat covers are vinyl.

Re: Just Picked Up Today 1987 Custom Deluxe 84000 Original Miles
I ran the codes in the glovebox to see if the seat was cloth or vinyl. It has a 77C code : trim combination cloth, medici red and 77I interior trim, medici red. Would this mean that the seat was cloth? Also had codes for all the exterior trim.

Anyone know for sure if this is a factory style seat with the glovebox code?

B85 = chrome side trim Cloth seat was available in Custom Deluxe (page 77): http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs...olet-Truck.pdf Interestingly enough - I never noticed until just now but you could get a vinyl seat in a Silverado..... K |

I see that it has a black vinyl floor covering. I ordered my Scottsdale with the vinyl floor and it was burgandy colored (so - apparently - a color keyed vinyl floor mat was available with the Scottsdale package). K http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...k/100_7089.jpg |

Interesting. I would have loved to work for Gm when these were being built. Is the Custom Deluxe the low model then Scottsdale or the other way around. I was also wondering about the door trim panels, they have no trim, pull handle , or chrome around the handle. Are these original? Thanks for all your help and the link you attatched, very interesting.

Re: Just Picked Up Today 1987 Custom Deluxe 84000 Original Miles
Yup. Back in the 1980s, the trim levels on the C/K series of pickups, Blazers, and Suburbans were:
-Custom Deluxe-- the base model truck (painted bumpers, mirrors, crank windows, dual headlights-- think today's W/T series) -Scottsdale-- mid-level trim (chrome accents and bumpers, stainless trim and mirrors, dual headlights) -Silverado-- Top trim level (power everything, chrome and stainless, quad headlights) |

(lol) Different time back then. We were just finishing up the old "bull of the woods" cigar smoking managment style. But - a good place to be if you were a truck nut. I spent my whole first summer in the Inspection office figuring out what options I wanted to order on my '80 pickup. K |
