DFW guys & Kellers....

The 'Flores Performance' guys were out again. 4 swb 81-87's, all tubbed to varying degrees w/big blocks + 2 67-72's w/similar set-ups as well. All pretty decent looking trucks & all had big slicks or M/T's & the big blue bottle.

 IMHO, tubbing is just for looks. There's guy's running in the 8's on a 10" tire!

SCOTI 07-27-2003 11:22 AM

Running 8's (or 9's for that matter) is a lot harder than it looks w/a vehicle that does double duty. I've had several friends that ran 454+ cubic inches w/N2o & still didn't break out of the 10's & they had 'tubbed' trucks w/slicks.

I'm pretty sure one of these guys would be willing to put a pink slip up for grabs if you feel like coming to Dallas & think your truck has what it takes to get it....

These trucks don't look like 'show queens'. They look more along the lines of 'Sat night specials'. They are 'work' trucks (as in their sole purpose is to generate $$). Also, since there's more than just one truck in the stable, I would guess they have progressively improved w/each, having learned from their mistakes. I'll ask next time I see them what their avg track times are.

kevhill85 07-27-2003 01:33 PM

BigRed 07-27-2003 11:31 PM

Man, it's been too long since I've been out to Keller's. :( Maybe soon I'll get out there again. I've never really seen many 73-87s out there, other than us Southern Bowties guys. :)

SCOTI 07-27-2003 11:43 PM

Last night was the first time in the last 6 weeks that I've been able to go. The last couple of times the 'Flores Performance' group wasn't there in force, just one or two of them.

Once it cools off some I might take the top off the Jimmy and drive down some weekend. Lets see.....cooling off in Texas = mid november? :D

October and November are the best months to go out there. It seems like theres always a bunch of nice trucks out there. The weather is perfect for it!

Any of you regulars who go to Kellers know a guy named Scott Swanson in a new Lightning? I think he is there EVERY weekend. He used to hang out up here in Paris. A lot of them call him Nitrous Boy I think lol.

Just wondering.

I haven't seen him. It's been awhile for me to head out there as well. I need a good #5 and a few brews too.

low 84 07-28-2003 04:02 PM

SCOTI 07-28-2003 06:43 PM

I've only been on Friday nights. From what I have heard, it's much more tame around there on Fridays. I guess it gets overrun fast on Saturdays.

kevhill85 07-29-2003 07:22 PM

i go on sat . with some buddy when we go . i have not been since i've my trucks dnow . or being rebuild

SCOTI 07-29-2003 07:27 PM

Sat nights are better if you want to see more vehicles & don't mind paying the $5 cover charge. Beers are $1.65, so if you bring a truck w/1 friend/spouse it's still $5 & your money has gone 2x as far. I drank a beer once so I know $1.65 is a good price ;) .

kevhill85 07-29-2003 07:29 PM

lol

79BIG10 07-30-2003 12:45 PM

Yeah you can't beat the $1.65 beer for sure.

kevhill85 07-30-2003 08:50 PM

was that draft or bottle

Jonboy 07-30-2003 09:37 PM

so what Saturday night are we going?!?!?
