how much work involved?

How much work is involved to change timing cover and oil pan gasket on a 6 cylinder 97 gmc? Lots of leakage here...

Re: how much work involved?

The timing cover will require quite a few things to come out. Serp belt, harmonic balancer, fan, fan shroud, water pump. That's off the top of my head. There may be more. The fan will be fun since GM went to the single nut instead of the 4 bolts to the pump pulley.

The oil pan should be fairly simple. I did my 350 without pulling the motor. You just need to pull the inspection cover for the torque converter/flexplate.

Pull the shroud and the radiator as well.On mine I jacked the front of the motor up for more clearance.
