I HATE THIS WHEN THIS HAPPENS!

I took my truck for a drive last night, I came up to a red light, then took off, I heard a loud pop noise, the truck started shakeing, then I heard something hit the street, I looked in mirror and the back half of my drive shaft went sliding down the street! I coasted to a parking lot, and called my wife to come get me. Then I had to pull my 72' home with my 97' ford power stroke, I hate it when a ford has to pull a chevy, so any ways, the drive shaft is toast, I was just getting ready to put another tranny with a one piece drive shaft in it any way, I was going to do this last week, but had to take care of something else, no I am forced to do it, going to go with a 700R4 with one piece shaft, I already ahve the shaft, it is out of a 75' truck, do I need to have it cut or modified any at all to make it work with the 700r4?

It should be a straight swap deal. Is the shaft about 68 inches long? That should be right if it is. You will have to remove the carrier bearing housing though. It will hit the shaft on bumps. Good luck, Jeff.

Jeff,
When you cut the carrier bearing houseing, did you box it back in? Or did you just leave it cut?

I would have pushed my truck home rather than have a F**d pull it. The dang thing would probly jinks the chevy... LOL Just kidding!! Sorry about your missfortune. Sounds like you are going to turn it in your favor though. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

If it makes you feel better, just two weeks ago I saw a '68 K10 pulling a brand new 2002 Power choke.

Wish I had my camera, but I left it at work!
