Replace Carrier bearings
I have a question regarding the Carrier bearings in the rearend. If I want to replace those do I have set the whole rearend up again or is it just a straight swap? I want to replace the outer axle bearings and thought I would do the carrier too. That would just leave the pinion bearing. Not sure I want to mess with that one.

Re: Replace Carrier bearings
You are talking about the one between the driveshafts, right? The carrier bearing on my C20 was a straight swap, and actually very easy. Hardest part was getting the old rusty bolts loose, after that it was a snap. It's pretty self explanatory once you get under there.

Re: Replace Carrier bearings
he's talking about the diff. not knowing what rear axle you have here are some generals if its shimmed use the same shims DONT mix them up you should be able to do the pinion also without a problem they all use shims (again DONT MIX THEM UP OR LOSE ANY) some use shims and a crush sleeve if it has a crush sleeve use a new one ...if the carrier is adjustable then you will have to do some set up but to get that wipe correct is not that hard since you are not setting the pinion depth also... its when someone pulls it all apart and throws the shims out that you want to kill them
