Converting clutch pedal assembly to auto?
 

I'm finally working on my dads truck and he wants to convert the manual setup over to an auto setup. I've got the whole cab stripped and have the "cage" with the manual pedals out. Before I send it off for sandblasting, can I take it apart and delete the clutch and manual brake pedal and add the larger brake pedal?

Next question: If I CAN do this, where the heck can I find an Auto brake pedal arm and pad? I looked all over ebay. Are they pretty common?

You can unbolt and remove the clutch pedal. If you undo the spring and linkage under the dash, along with the retainer bolt on the left hand side of the pedal assembly bracket, it will slide out.

As far as the brake pedal, there's not an interchangeable pedal that will give you a larger pad. Believe it or not, even the automatic trucks had the same size brake pedal pad as the manual versions. My suggestion is to find a brake pedal from an automatic vehicle that has the pad shape you want. Cut and remove the pads from each of the pedals and weld the automatic pedal pad to your existing brake arm. Just make sure whichever automatic pedal you decide to go with, that somebody makes new pads for it . It would be a shame to do the swap and have to run the old beat up pad because you can't buy a new one!
