New wheels on older suburban.
 

Recently picked up a 2wd 71 burban with 5x5 axels. I also recently picked up some trail blazer ss 20's. Was wondering if anyone has put new style wheels like these or ones from new silverado on there rig. Is there an offset issue with the newer wheels or tire rub issue? I found someone who will make the adapters but they are expensive wanted to see if they would fit before I tried that route.

Well to start with the offset and the bolt pattern is wrong. Adapters can correct both of these issues and they will fit fine.

But going from your 5x5 to the Trailblazer 6x5 presents a problem in that you cannot lay a 6 bolt pattern on top of a 5 bolt pattern without the holes hitting each other, this requires a more expensive and complex two piece adapter.

You could swap rear axle shafts and drums, and front rotors to a 6 lug pattern very easily, but you would still be left to go from the 6x5.5 to the TB 6x5 lug pattern and make up the offset difference.

Other than that, after correcting the offset issue, it is up to your tire size whether you have rubbing issues or not.

Personally, I would just buy another set of aftermarket wheels that will fit your bolt pattern and offset correctly. The TBSS wheels are very nice looking wheels, but you can get something similar that will fit properly probably for the same or less than you will spend on the TBSS wheels and the needed adapters.

Boss 335 is one that comes to mind. It is 5 spoke vs 6 of the TBSS, but it comes in your lug pattern, in a suitable offset, and has the same thick straight spoke style, although with a bit of lip vs the flush face.

I know it doesn't help much since you already have the tbss wheels, but a company called factory reproductions makes a reproduction tbss wheel in 20 and 22 in 6x5.5 lug pattern.

They do, but he is still stuck with going from his burb 5x5 to the 6x5.5, and using spacers to get the proper offset, so really he is in the same boat as with the standard 6x5 TBSS wheels.

Yes, but I'm sure it's easier to swap to a 6x5.5 than a 6x5. I really like the idea of running a newer, larger, but still stock wheel.
