60 Cab on 82 frame?

I tired searching and i'm sure it has been asked... Has anyone put a 60 cab on a 82 frame? I have been reading and I have learned that the 60-61 frames are different. I want to step notch the frame and bag my project truck. I have an 82 that I bought as a donor parts truck(motor, brakes, rearend, 5lug, etc...). My 1960 c20 longbed has torsion bar front suspension & is 8 lug with rear springs. The more I learn about the truck and more info I read the more I'm thinking about swapping the cab onto the 82 frame. That way I wouldnt have to swap out the front subframe/suspension, steering, rear end, etc... I know it will not be a direct bolt on but i'm hoping I won't be the first to do it.

I have been meaning to start a build thread & will... just not much progress right now

It is much harder to swap a complete frame than it is to change out components.......... Kieth :gmc2:

There are many many many threads about this. I always recomend against it if at all possible. Especially with a '73 and up frame. It is a lot of work and you will end up with about a 3" body lift. And yes I have been there done that. I do admit that the '60-'62 frames are not the easiest to work with for what you are wanting to do. If you were to swap frames, I would suggest a '63-'72 frame, with '63-'66 being a nearly direct swap. But you will want to be sure to make the swap legally with the correct paperwork as required by your local DMV.

Here is a thread that I started on the subject:

Thanks for the information and link... I guess I will just start pulling everything I need off the donor truck & crush it. I need to get on the front suspension upgrade & remove the torsion bars. So have to go back to the drawing board on how I want to reinforce the frame so I can step notch it.
