What flywheel to use?

I am getting ready to put a 2002 6.0L LQ9 into my '68 C10. I was going to use the 4L80e transmission that I purchased with it, but a friend of mine has recently given me a TH 400 that his dad built (Dad builds racing transmissions) and he has no use for.

Question is: Will the flex plate from the 6.0 work bolting up the TH 400 torque converter and do the bell housing and block mounting holes match?

I have read a few things about adapters and special bolts, but nothing concise.

Id wether have the 4l80e over the 400 the 4l80 is as bullet proof as the 400 but has over drive no sure on flexpkate

Guessing your LQ9 came out of a Denali or Escalade Platform and was hooked to a 4l60/65. So next question is the flexplate on your LQ9 flat or dished?

Also chances are if it came with a 4l80 attached then its more than likely an LQ4 and in that case you the th400 will bolt right up

i recently had the same question about a 700r4, what i was told is that the flexplate will work-but the holes in it need to be elongated by about half a hole. also you need to use a spacer between the flexplate and crank that gm makes and is available through summit racing with bolts.

I will have to check on the flex plate. It is wrapped up at my dads shop right now. It did come out of an Escalade and I assumed that it was a 4l80, it was sold to me as one and I resold it as one. I ran the numbers from the motor and it is definitely a LQ9.

I saw a post that talked about the spacer and bolts so I have the part numbers for both if I need them. Thanks,
