Static drop, 97 Yukon

1 Attachment(s)
Finally finished off the drop on my 97 Yukon. 2" springs on the front, for the rear I removed the helper leaf, the third leaf, and added 2" shackles. The springs were gently used from a friend, he said they were 2" but my front dropped nearly 5".

I say finished, but I need to install a bracket I made to pull the fuel filler and vent hoses out of the way, tomorrow afternoon.

Looks great!
I've always wanted one of those 2-dr 2wd tahoes.

Looks good! I was thinking to myself that it looked like more than 2" up front, & then I kept reading to see what you said. Looks like a nice Yukon overall as well. :bowtie:

That looks really good! So youre only running 2 leaf springs on the rear? I was planning on doing the same thing, 2" springs and 2" shackle with overload removed. Youll have to let us know how it rides, How tall are your tires?

Thanks!

Mine had 5 springs, so I'm left with 3. The tires are 235/70R15 Firestone "Destination LE" on all four corners. They're not my choice but were fairly new when I got the truck a year ago.

The ride.... Well, lets say its a little bumpy in the rear, I removed the rubber stops which helped a lot. The rear shocks are bottoming out, so I need to decide if I'm going to go with shorter ones or extensions. The front shocks need to be addressed too, but they're not as big a concern as the rear.

I'm happy with the results (outside the shock issue) and really like the lower look. I have 2 bagged trucks, having a static drop daily is nice, plus I can hand the keys to my wife or daughter without "air" concerns. My wife is especially happy she can more gracefully enter and exit the truck. She stopped growing at 5'-1 3/4", getting in the truck prior to lowering was a challenge.
