Found another one
4 Attachment(s)
heard about this truck thru a friend that it was at a local salvage yard. Put off going to look at it for a couple weeks. Finally went today and this is what I found;
1965 Short wide, custom cab, factory A/C components there, factory automatic. No engine or trans, but overall a very solid truck. In the bed are the custom cab sail panel trim, a perfect aluminum grille, a good chrome front bumper, and a great hood and lots of other small parts. Pretty pleased to score this one, even tho I am not a short bed fan. And no none of the pieces are for sale at this time. |
Re: Found another one

That sure has been there a while! look at the spider web on the glove box!
I can never be that lucky to find something like that just laying around...here people would want $4K for that! |
Re: Found another one

Re: Found another one
Thank guys!. We're pretty happy. Just starting to make a plan, but since the "burb got sidelined and re-purposed, thinking the turbo 6 my find this as a new home. The Mrs says "keep it simple" LOL like that will happen.
Plan on picking it up on Saturday, dash thu the car wash then bring home and evaluate further. |
Re: Found another one
Nice find. Are you certin it is a factory automatic truck? I see a clutch pedal in the pictures. but it does have a automatic steering column also.
Serious spider webs!.... A good name for the truck would be charlotte....from the old cartoon movie charlotte's web. LOL |
Re: Found another one
Didn't do a complete nut and bolt check, or run the VIN- as it really doesn't matter to me. This will not get restored, so what it was originally isn't that important. I do know there is a high hump cover in the bed, and a low hump one. The pedal assembly is loose and there were no clutch linkage brackets on the frame. My guess was that someone was in the process of converting to a manual. will know more when it is brought home.

Re: Found another one
What about the blue/green maybe a '65, looking through the windshield picture? Snag that one too?

Re: Found another one
Bringing it home today.
Also scored a parts truck yesterday. Bought a 1990 C2500 2wd w/ 4.3L TBI and 5 speed. Should be a straight forward swap. Most likely will use the '90 rear end as well, just to keep the combo the same, and being the LD 2500, it is 6 lug. Lots of parts from the '90 will be going in- the 40/60 bench seat, and possibly the instrument cluster, if I can make a decent retrofit into the stock opening. Already ordered a Painless TBI harness, a new chassis harness,a new ECM, new cab/core support mounts, and some odds and ends. The plan also includes a rack and pinion install and 4 wheel disc brakes-since I have all of this already on the shelf. It'll be a quick build, pretty much all bolt on stuff. |
Re: Found another one
Good score for you.
