Operation Rustbucket

Here is the 89 K1500 Silverado stepside 4x4 I just purchased as my new project. It has a 5.7. I paid $500 for it. This is as bought.

Re: Operation Rustbucket

First thing I have done is replace the following
Spark plugs, spark plug wires, rotor, distributor cap, radiator cap, tensioner, tensioner brace, serpentine belt, fuel filter, air cleaner and filter, IAC.

I also changed the oil and filter, coolant and rear differential service.

Up next will be the transfer case, front diff and tranny service.

It already had a new radiator, alternator and battery

They had those stainless steel panels on the truck and I think that is what started the rust they are still in holding the bottom of the doors together

Re: Operation Rustbucket

Adjusted the shift indicator cable and then replaced the actuator and repaired some wiring and the 4x4 is working. Also decided to drop in a L98 5.7L out of a 88 GTA I rebuilt for a future project and this is it.
